Özgür Şimşek graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, and Department of Finance in 1993. Then he completed his master's degree in financial economics at Boston University, USA in 2006.
He started his career in 1993 as an assistant tax inspector in Tax Inspectors Board at the Ministry of Finance where he conducted tax examinations, investigations, and research on large-scale companies in various sectors, He was appointed as tax inspector in 1997 and chief tax inspector in 2004.
After serving for 13 years in the Board, he was appointed as the head group of Revenue Administration in 2007 and had been in charge of the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Exchange of Information in the department of Double Taxation Treaties and International Relations for 2 years.
He resigned from his public service in 2008 and joined Eren Holding A.Ş. where he served as a financial coordinator for 4 years and Deputy General Manager of Energy for 4 years. Besides, he served in the high ranked executive roles, he also held Board Member positions in several group companies for 8 years during his duty in the Holding. He performed active roles in finance, financial affairs, auditing, business development, investment and public relations, coal and energy trade operations of the group companies of Eren Holding, which operates in energy, cement, port, cardboard, packaging, textile, and retail sectors.
In 2017, with the suggestion of Japanese partner Kansai, he started to work as CFO and executive manager in Polisan Kansai Boya A.Ş. Alongside with his executive role in the company, he facilitated the management of the relations between the shareholders of the company for 3 years. In addition to that, he supervised the business development activities of group companies.
He has been a founding partner in Mizrahi and Şimşek Management Consultancy since November 2020.
